What's new in WeType

Better placement, a redesigned menu and Settings, and a clearer trial.

• Suggestions stay on the caret's line when your text wraps, and are drawn at the size the app draws its own text.
• A redesigned menu-bar menu and Settings, with a dashboard of the words and time WeType has saved you.
• A richer model picker that shows each model's size, the Mac it suits, and whether it can read the text around the field.
• The trial says exactly what it is: words left today and days left, shown in the menu bar.
• If you skip setup, you can pick it up again from the menu bar.
• The shortcut recorder refuses keys that would break normal typing, such as letters, Space, Return and the arrows.
• A lifetime licence stays unlocked for up to 30 days offline between checks; a subscription for 7.
• Eight anonymous product events, listed in full on the privacy page, which you can switch off in Settings › Privacy. Nothing you type is ever included.

Microsoft Word support, and the clipboard kept out of it.

• Suggestions now work inside Microsoft Word documents.
• Accepted text is typed in directly by default, so it no longer passes through your clipboard. Code editors still paste, because typing into an editor that auto-closes brackets doubles them.
• An in-app What's New feed, reachable from the menu bar, for release notes and notices.
